Hey there everyone!
Oh my god this whole week has been insane! This week and next week are midterms for my winter semester & it has been nothing but crazy to say the least. Between projects, papers, and exams, my brain feels like it is running on E. I know that everyone goes through midterms or has at some point in your life & it can be extremely difficult to juggle all the different things that you have to work on! Which is why I want to share with you all my tips on how to survive midterms! I find that these tips have helped me not only this week but for past midterms, so I want to share them you today!
Finding the “perfect” study space
This can be different for anyone. For me I absolutely love going to a public space like a cafe or commons area on campus! For some reason I just feel way more productive and have much better focus. I like to study in my room or apartment as well, but I can easily get distracted with certain things like cleaning my messy room or making food. So if you have a specific study space in mind that you feel most productive then go and get everything you need to get done done!
Make a plan of action
Something that always helps me sort out the many thoughts I have, is making a list or schedule for the work I have to get done. It helps me plan out how much time I want to spend on each individual assignment or study session. This way I can spend equal amount of time on everything and don’t end up skipping over anything important!
The perfect playlist
Listening to the right music is key to having the perfect study session! Personally when I listen to music that I can sing along to, it ends up being a distraction from what I really should be focusing on. Find a playlist that contains music that helps you focus and feel more productive during the day! I love listening to any of Spotify’s Focus Playlists! They are just mellow beats of music that help me stay focused and soak in the information that I am reading.
It’s okay to take breaks
Of course during this week of studying and working you have to make time for a few breaks in between! Turn on some Netflix and lay in a blanket for a few minutes, grab food with friends, or do a quick workout at the gym! Breaks are important so you don’t overwork your mind or body. I love to take an hour and just listen to my favorite podcasts or watch an hour of my favorite show!
Catch some Z’s
Just because you are studying for midterms doesn’t mean that you have to pull all nighters every night! Just like I said earlier with taking breaks, the same thing goes for sleep! It’s important to make sure that you are getting enough sleep so you don’t end up overworking your mind and body. Days that I don’t get enough sleep, I tend to feel groggy and un productive the next day, which you don’t want to happen during midterms week!
I hope some of these tips keep you focused and motivated for your midterms! Good luck beautiful people & keep on pushing through! Have a great rest of your week & an even better weekend!!
