Navigating Your 20’s + Advice

Hello Beautiful People!

I hope you all had a fun weekend celebrating St. Patricks Day and are all having a wonderful kick-off to your week. It has been so crazy here in Grand Rapids between work and school. I am officially 6 weeks away from the end of the semester and graduation which is absolutely crazy to even think about! It honestly feels like my freshman year was yesterday and now I am in the final 6 weeks of a 4-year journey. Now, I know I have not been in my 20s for a long period of time just yet, but I feel like there have been so many great lessons that I have learned that have helped me navigate through my 20s. Today I am so excited to share my favorite advice given for navigating through your 20’s!

Not everything has to be figured out

This is still something that I absolutely suck at remembering, but I am working hard to try and remind myself this every day. I am that person that puts so much pressure on herself to have every single piece of my life figured out and in all honesty, it’s exhausting! Your 20s are supposed to be a time in your life to enjoy the journey and stop worrying about accomplishing every little thing in a short amount of time. Take a breath and enjoy it!

Everything is going to be okay

Have you had moments that you feel like your whole life is going down the drain? I feel that way constantly, but I have found that those moments never really last forever. Something my mom always told me was your 20s are made for making mistakes and learning from them. This time is meant for experiencing the highs and lows of being an adult. So no need to worry, everything will get sorted out!

Live in the moment

In today’s day and age, we can become so fixated on how many likes or followers we have on our social media. Learning to live in the moment and stop focusing on taking the perfect photo and focusing on living in the moment is the most important lesson to learn in your 20s!

It’s okay to question things

Don’t be afraid to question certain things happening in your life! It shows how much you care about if you are making the right decision or not.

Let go of people who don’t make you a priority

This is a piece of advice that I have had to recently have to work on applying to my life. You should not waste your time or emotions on people who do not make you a priority in your life. The energy that you are wasting on them could so easily be put into other areas of your life. Find people who love you for you and stop worrying about those individuals who don’t care about you!

Save your money

I know we all have problems with saving money. I work and I STILL have problems with keeping money in my bank account. I tend to put a portion of every paycheck into my savings account and I only take out a small portion from my savings for important purchases. You need money to live and being prepared for anything is important in your 20s.

Try everything

Your 20s are considered your selfish years. You can do whatever makes you happy. Travel someplace new or work for a job that you may not like. In order to set a solid foundation for your future, you should use these years to live your life to the fullest!

Make yourself a priority

Self-love is super important! You need to love and focus on yourself first before you can focus on someone else. Take some time for yourself and always make yourself a priority no matter what.

It’s okay to say “NO”

When you don’t want to do something, don’t be afraid to say no! It is an acceptable answer and it requires no explanation.

You may not be on the path you envisioned, but don’t worry

Life may not lead you down the same path that you had envisioned for yourself. You may be fired from a job or separate from someone you planned to spend the rest of your life with. At the end of the day, your options are limitless and when one door closes another door could open for you!

Honestly, there is so much more advice that I could share with you but these are some of the most important lessons I have learned (so far). I am still learning and growing so I know there is going to be even more lessons that I will learn in the next 9 years but for now, I am just enjoying the journey! In other news, the PYM website launch is approaching and I am super excited to share all the amazing happenings with this project. Also, my Youtube channel will be launching this June so I’ll be sure to keeep you all updated with that project as well. Have a great rest of your week & a fabulous weekend. I’ll talk soon!
